Instead of the traditional pom pom, add a special “topper” to your hat!
Hook: same as used in your hat pattern
Yarn: any used in your hat pattern
*NOTE: topper patterns may not work well with specialty (furry, etc.) or bulky yarns

TWIRLIES
Chain 10 (not too tight), leaving a 10” tail. Work 3 DC in 2nd chain
from hook. Work 4 DC in each of the next 7 chains. Slip stitch in
last chain (do not finish off).
*Chain 10. Work 3 DC in 2nd chain from hook. Work 4 DC in
each of the next 7 chains. Slip stitch in the last chain. Repeat from
* 1 or more times.
Finish off, leaving a 10” tail.
To attach: Take the 2 tails, tie them in a square knot (knot twice,
left over right and pull, right over left and pull). Attach to your hat
using a yarn needle. Thread 1 tail through top of hat, then thread
the other tail through the top of the hat close to each other but not
through the same hole. From inside the hat, tie in a square knot
twice and weave in ends.

a loop. Chain 1, slip stitch in loop, *3 DC, slip stitch in loop.
Repeat from *, 3 times. Slip stitch back down the chain, slip stitch
in “starter” chain.
Repeat 2nd flower directions for 3 or more flowers. Finish off,
leaving a 10” tail.

tie a knot across the circle to draw the loopies together so they will
look better on top of your hat. Attach to your hat using a yarn
needle. Thread 1 tail through top of hat, then thread the other tail
through the top of the hat close to each other but not through the
same hole. From inside the hat, tie in a square knot twice and
weave in ends.
Chain 4, leaving a 10” tail. Join with slip stitch to form a ring.
*Chain 20. Slip stitch in ring. Repeat from * 15-20 times. Finish
off.
